Norman Shipman

Norman started to dance at the age of 20 with a background in urban dancing at Stony Brook University as a means of getting into better shape. At the age of 21, Norman began training in the world of collegiate ballroom with the Stony Brook University team. Upon graduating from Stony Brook, Norman has continued to pursue Ballroom dancing and training with coaches such as Vibeke Toft, Allan Tornsberg and Armin Kappacher for International Latin, Ieva Pauksena and Igor Litvinov for International Standard; with Dariusz Horvath-Krol being his primary instructor.

Next to competing and performing, Norman is passionate about teaching partner dancing as a means for people to feel empowered to control their lives and express themselves freely through dance.

determined to push the creative and athletic capabilities in partner dancing. By understanding our own bodies we can connect with our partners on a physical and emotional level, only then are we truly dancing as one.
